This 5-mile trail race starts at the Bluewater Canyon parking lot. You’ll run one mile along a gravel road before climbing over 500 feet to the top of Bluewater Canyon, where you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the surrounding mountains and mesas. Pause for photos and take in the scenery—there are three aid stations along the route to keep you hydrated.
The course follows an established dirt road with some rocky sections and is an out-and-back format. This route is new for our 5-year celebration. After you finish, stay in the finish area for a complimentary fruit and beverage buffet, or bring your own refreshments and a towel and take a short half-mile hike into the canyon to cool off in the creek’s cold mountain water.
Awards: Placer T-shirts will be presented to the top three male and top three female finishers, as well as the top three kids aged 14 and under. All finishers will receive medals this year, plus custom socks and additional items in your swag bags.
All proceeds from registrations will be donated to the Cibola Trail Alliance to support trail systems in and around Cibola County. As always, friendly four-legged companions are welcome but must follow state and local laws. This race takes place on BLM land.
